A free times tables test for Years 2 to 6
Pick the tables, choose a timer or none, and your child answers one fact at a time on a phone, a tablet or a laptop. At the end you see the score, the speed and a grid of the facts to practise next. Nothing your child types leaves this page.
The NSW Mathematics K-10 Syllabus asks for every multiplication fact to 10 x 10, with its division facts, by the end of Year 4. Years 1 and 2 skip count in twos, fives and tens; Years 3 and 4 learn the tables, the twos, fours, fives and tens first; Years 5 and 6 lean on them for long multiplication and division. Times tables in NSW: what each year learns, and how to practise says more.

Questions parents ask
Which times tables should my child know in Year 3?
The NSW syllabus covers Years 3 and 4 together. The twos, fours, fives and tens come first, with their division facts, then the threes, sixes, eights and nines, and the sevens last, so that every fact to 10 x 10 is known by the end of Year 4. Ask the teacher which tables the class is on this term, and test those.
How fast should a child answer a times tables question?
Within about three seconds, without counting up. This test marks a right answer inside three seconds as fast. A right answer that takes longer is still right; it is a fact to practise until it comes without working out.
Does Learnest keep my child's answers or score?
No. The test runs in your browser and nothing your child types leaves it. When a run ends, the page adds one to our count of tests finished that day, and that is all we keep. If you ask us to email you the result for later, we keep your email address, the score and the facts to practise for 45 days at most, then delete them.
The test runs in your browser. Learnest keeps no answer, no score and no record of who took it: only one more on the day's count of tests finished. The one exception is a result you ask us to email you, which we keep with your address for 45 days at most.
